Policy Council News

 

Policy Council met on January 26, 2012, at the Mt. Sterling Office.  The Council heard financial and inkind reports, along with the regular business with the following reports being presented: Enrollment Summary, Center Based Attendance Monitoring, CACFP Reimbursement, and Employee Status Report.  The Policy Council heard several reports from the Executive Director that were approved.

Policy Council went into closed session and heard personnel recommendations.  The Council returned to open session and approved the hiring and transferring of staff that was recommended.

Plans are forming for six members of the Policy Council to attend the Illinois Head Start Conference in Springfield on March 7, 8, and 9.  The members will attend sessions to learn information about Head Start.  Policy Council members will have the opportunity to hear and meet with Collins Tuohy, sister of Michael Oher, her adopted brother.  The movie, "The Blind Side" was based on Michael's life.  Collins will be presenting the opening session on Wednesday, March 7.  On Thursday, they will hear Jonathan Edison speak on, "How to Stay Motivated in Challenging Times."  Then on Friday, Policy Council members can attend a presentation by Kelly Swanson entitled, "Who Hijacked My Fairy Tale?"
